Clave Rhythm
The Clave rhythm is often played on the claves (wood sticks) or substituted by a similarly bright sound, such as striking the rim of a snare drum. The clave rhythm extends through two four-beat measures and is of two types, either 3+2 or 2+3. The latter pattern is sometimes called a reverse clave.
