Reggae
Reggae is a popular music style from Jamaica characterized by an emphasized offbeat and moderate tempo. The music evolved from mento, ska, and rock steady, flourishing from the 1970s to today. The music typically infused with strong social commentary and often includes references to the Rastafari spiritual tradition. Bob Marley is the best known artist associated with Reggae music, though there are numerous other successful performers of the style, such as Jimmy Cliff, Peter Tosh, and Marley's son, Ziggy Marley.
