Data Journalism: new practical projects

We'll offer a new range of data journalism projects, with step-by-step instructions to completing them.

The tuition will build on the demonstrations and  examples given in Chapter 13 of Multimedia Journalism.

How to write like Buzzfeed: the art of listicals

There'll be a practical demonstration of how to create features in the listical style used widely on new journalism platforms such as Buzzfeed.

This tuition will update and build on material covered in Chapter 17 of MMJ

Live video update: how journalists are using Periscope, Meerkat and other platforms

These two apps have turned Twitter into a powerful live video-reporting  platform, so we'll add to what we covered in Chapters 5 and 6 of MMJ with a best-practise guide to their use, with demonstrations and examples from journalists who are using them most effectively

How to become a star journalist on YouTube

We'll  take a close look at journalists who are building a powerful presence on YouTube and analyse how  to replicate their success.

This tuition will build on material covered in Chapters 3 and 5 of MMJ.

January 2016

How to do journalism on Snapchat

Snapchat is among the new social platforms that traditional media groups are experimenting with.

We'll look at the benefits publishing on it can bring to you and your journalism, and offer detailed tuition in its use.

This tuition builds on what we covered in Chapters 3 and 9 of MMJ, and applies lessons learned there in relation to other platforms to Snapchat.

Latest apps for journalists

We'll survey the latest mobile phone apps that will help you with your mobile journalism, including apps for recording interviews, live-streaming, and recording and editing stills and video.

This tuition will build on material covered in chapter 6 of MMJ.
