There are several mood disorders, such as unipolar depression and bipolar depression as well as milder forms such as dysthymia (or persistent depressive disorder) and cyclothymic. There are several different theories of the causes of mood disorders from interpersonal, cognitive, and behavioral perspectives. Several effective mood disorder treatments currently exist, including cognitive behavioral therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy.
