The chapter begins by defined trauma and stressor related disorders, which is a new category in DSM-5. The chapter then discusses the five adulthood trauma and stress related disorders, which are: posttraumatic stress disorder, acute stress disorder, adjustment disorders, other specified trauma- and stressor-related disorders, unspecified trauma-and stressor-related disorder. The chapter ends by discussing some of the existing empirically supported treatments, including emotional processing theory, prolonged exposure, and narrative exposure therapy.
