Multimedia Story: San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Decommissioning

Assignment

You are a journalist reporting on the closure of the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS) in northern San Diego County in southern California. Use the provided media, your own research, and any other appropriate materials you can gather (including B-roll) to produce the following reports:

1. A long-form feature story for a magazine or Sunday newspaper that serves the communities surrounding the plant
2. A long-form feature story for a magazine or Sunday newspaper in another region or community in which there is an operating or proposed nuclear power plant; for a list of nuclear power plants in the United States, visit www.nrc.gov/info-finder/reactor/
3. A Web story with the following elements:
1. A text update of 600 to 1,000 words with at least one sidebar for important but dense material
2. A photo or graphic to anchor the top of the story
3. A one-to-three-minute video
4. An information or interactive graphic
5. Links to resources, related stories, or more information
