Gloria Estefan
Estefan was born Gloria Fajardo in Cuba in 1957 but left the country as a toddler with her family during the upheavals of the Cuban Revolution. She spent most of her childhood and adolescence in Miami, Florida, amid the large Cuban exile population that had settled there. Estefan performed with the Miami Sound Machine, a popular local Latin pop group during the 1970s and 1980s. The group found success with songs such as "Conga," "1, 2, 3," and "The Rhythm Is Gonna Get You." Estefan has released more than twenty albums in her career, singing in both English and Spanish, and remains one of the most prominent figures in the Latin popular music industry.
