Welcome to the companion website for QLab 4: Projects in Video, Audio, and Lighting Control by Jeromy Hopgood. This text and website introduce you to the QLab 4 software and encourage learning at your own pace through projects and tips.
QLab 4 is a project-based book on QLab software covering sound, video, lighting, and show control. With information on audio, video, and lighting system basics and the more advanced functions of QLab such as show control, network capabilities, projection mapping, video effects, and cue cart integration, each chapter's specific projects will allow you to learn the software's capabilities at your own pace.
What you will find on this website
This companion website is designed to be a useful tool for the reader, as well as a supplement for teachers using the text in a classroom setting. It is broken down into five basic sections listed below:
Figure 53 – Figure 53, LLC. is the maker of QLab and other fine programs dedicated to helping people put on a show. This section links you to pertinent information on the software developer and resources available through their website.
Video Content – This section of the website features links to a number of tutorial videos created to supplement the text. These videos are all specific to QLab 4 (though there are also links to videos related to QLab 3). Check back often to see new content created for the Dance Production channel.
Project Packets – These project packets provide all of the necessary media to work through the dozens of in-chapter projects offered in the text. These are useful for the casual reader as well as classroom instructors, as each offer an interesting project to help illuminate core concepts. Each packet corresponds to a particular project in the text and offers two QLab workspaces – one for the reader to experiment with, and one with the completed programming to use for comparison.
