Alexander Stupin’s Art School; with Sergey Zaryanko at Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture (Moscow Academy, 1853-62)

Career:

1862 -Village Sermon wins gold medal at Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture (MSPSA); wins MSPSA travel scholarship

1866 - member of Imperial Russian Academy of Arts

1870 – founding member of The Wanderers (Peredvizhniki); begins teaching at Imperial Academy

1871 – begins teaching at MSPSA

1877 - resigns from Wanderers

1881-2 – publishes “Tales of an artist” [Rasskazy khudozhnika] in Khudozhestvennyi Zhurnal (St Petersburg); resigns from MSPSA

Travel

France and Germany, mainly Paris (1862)
