1883 – gold medal at the International Exhibition in Amsterdam for Mary Crossing the Lake (private collection)
1886 – contractual agreement with Vittore and Alberto Grubicy; settles in Savognin
1888 – Italian government purchases At the Fence (Galleria Nazionale D'Arte Moderna, Rome)
1889 – publication of Luigi Illica’s poem, “Nirvana,” which exerts profound influence on Segantini’s work
1894 – meets Divisionist painter Giuseppe Pellizza da Volpedo at the second Brera triennale in Milan
1896 – one-man show at Munich Secession
