Locate also the many national agencies available for statistics and reports on the publishing and audio-visual industries across the EU, e.g. Ofcom or OFT in the UK. The European Journalism Centre is a good start for this quest.
Chapter 2
Most universities will provide online 'learning statistics' packages. These are highly recommended. One of the best resources in the UK is intute (formerly SOSIG) – http://www.intute.ac.uk/ – a portal open to all where you will be able to explore some of the best academic web sites across a range of disciplines, including learning about statistics. It includes a reference to the enormously interesting and informative StatSoft's Electronic Statistical Textbook.
Chapter 3
A good starting point to create your own website list is intute: follow the instructions and the various disciplines and record the sites as you go: http://www.intute.ac.uk/. There is also a whole range of encyclopaedias covering many of the topics listed in this and other chapters.
