Professor Martin Andrew Crook BSc MB BS MA PhD FRCPath FRCPI FRCP
Martin Crook is Consultant in Chemical Pathology and Metabolic Medicine at Guy’s & St Thomas’ and University Hospital Lewisham, London, UK. He qualified in medicine at Guy’s Hospital having earlier obtained a first class honours BSc degree in medical biochemistry.
After medical house jobs he was a British Heart Foundation researcher at the Hunterian Institute obtaining a PhD in thrombosis and platelet biochemistry. He then trained in chemical pathology, in London, at St Bartholomew’s and later at Guy’s and St Thomas’ hospitals.
He is a Fellow of the Royal Colleges of Pathologists and also Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of both Ireland and England and is an examiner for the Royal College of Pathologists. He has authored seven medical textbooks and is a member of the Society of Authors and has about 200 publications in the fields of clinicalbiochemistry, metabolic medicine, lipidology, sialic acid metabolism, cardiovascular disease and nutrition. He isVisiting Professor at the University of Greenwich in the Faculty of Science and has completed a MA in medical ethics and law at Keele University having an interest in medical confidentiality and hospital information governance.
