In the Heart of Counseling Video Library are 16 mock or demonstration counseling sessions. Most have separate discussion segment recordings in which the person in the role of client and counselor share thoughts and feelings related to the sessions. Our students find these brief discussions helpful. Each of the 16 mock sessions has a study guide with brief comments and study questions.

Persons in the roles of clients are alumni, advanced students, and friends who volunteered to play clients or sometimes play themselves as a client in order to provide realistic “session” examples for counseling students to observe – real sessions are private such that it is rare to have the opportunity to watch counseling – and for you to have the opportunity to critique the counselor’s actions within the examples. While instructors or students with access would very likely do so without our asking, we’ll state our request that you remain respectful of the persons in the roles of clients and please do not distribute or recopy any of the video segments beyond the site or video access provided for you.
