Light & Shadow
The physical basis of photography is the transformation of light into image. The Reframing Photography book explores processes that use light as a malleable material and as a means of casting images. In other words, lighting can be used as a means to an end (to light objects and scenes to be filmed or photographed), as a way to project images, or as the goal in itself (as a sculptural material in installation and performance). See the book to learn how to control lighting equipment, qualities of light, color of light and light temperature, how to reflect, diffuse, color and meter light, different ways to project images onto various surfaces, and to control how light reflects off of reflective surfaces.
