Plagiarism
One big problem we have today in academic writing is plagiarism. One of my students did her master’s thesis on it at our university and was surprised that not only did many students not know what it meant, but several professors from prestigious institutions did not have a clear idea as well. One of the best sites I have seen to define plagiarism is: www.indiana.edu/~academy/firstPrinciples/choice.html
Not only does it define the problem, but it also gives examples with a quiz to help people realize their own understanding. I strongly recommend you going through this until you master your ability to define and recognize plagiarism.
