- The National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS)
Reports all the statistics from recent censuses, nationwide and by state. - The Department of Agriculture's Economic Research Service
provides key indicators, outlook analysis, and a wealth of data on the U.S. food and agricultural system. Along with information on farming practices, structure, and performance, ERS produces data on topics such as farm and rural households, commodity markets, food marketing, agricultural trade, diet and health, food safety, food and nutrition assistance programs, natural resources and the environment, and the rural economy. - The World Resources Institute
Provides online data in EarthTrends: The Environmental Information Portal. The Institute provides a searchable time-series database with coverage of more than 500 indicators for 220 countries, searchable for a single indicator but over a full range of countries and years. Apart from Food and Agriculture, topics include Water Resources and Freshwater Ecosystems; Climate and Atmosphere; Population, Health and Human Well-being; Economics, Business and the Environment; Energy and Resources; Biodiversity and Protected Areas; and Forests and Drylands.
Energy
- The U.S. Energy Information Administration's International
Web site contains data searchable by country, resource, energy prices, emissions, analyses, and more, available for total energy consumption and production and by specific resource. Also contains projections of the outlook for international markets through 2025. - eia
Their national Web site contains similar data by state or fuel or sector.
Fisheries
- The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
Gives access to databases on commercial fisheries landings, foreign trade, marine recreational fisheries catch and effort, and more. - The UN's Food and Agriculture Organization's Fisheries Department
provides statistical databases online, and for download. They cover fishery productions, capture figures, regional fishery characteristics, environmental issues, and more.
Forestry
- The Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) of the U.S. Department of Agriculture
Reports on status and trends of forest areas; in species, size, and health of trees; in total tree growth, mortality, and removals by harvest; in wood production and utilization rates by various products; and in forest land ownership. - The UNEP World Conservation Monitoring Centre
provides information for policy and action to conserve the living world. Contains information about forest types, cover, distribution, protection, management, biodiversity, regional and plenty more.
Recyclables
- The USGS' Minerals Yearbook
Contains a section on recycling with archives back to the 1930s. It provides analyses on materials flow, as well as other information about the worldwide supply of, demand for, and flow of minerals and metals.
Water
- The United Nations GEMS/Water Programme
Provides scientifically-sound data and information on the state and trends of global inland water quality required as a basis for the sustainable management of the world's freshwater. Contains a wealth of data.
